ARL.now is reporting that Whitlow’s on Wilson is expanding- upward! The restaurant, located in Clarendon, has just received a permit to construct a rooftop deck that will be able to accommodate up to 286 patrons. As many know, there is a dearth of rooftop options in Arlngton (think Clarendon Ballroom and Eventide, which restricts the rooftop to diners only). So the addition of more outdoor space comes as a welcome relief, for those that want to take advantage of having a social life outside a restaurant/bar’s interior walls.
ARL.now goes onto say that the new space will serve food and there will be about 50 tables for outdoor dining. Greg Cahill, the owner, hopes to have the deck open by September.
Side note- this will be a great place to watch Arlington’s annual Mardi Gras parade. The parade, which runs from Clarendon to Courthouse, features floats, beads, music & fun!

According to the Washington Business Journal, Arlington is seeking a restaurant operator to open an establishment in the new Artisphere cultural center, which is the space formerly occupied by the Newseum. The new Artisphere is scheduled to open in October, though the new restaurant will not need to have its operations in place by this time.
Missy Frederick, a reporter for the WBJ Biz Beat, reports that a deal with Busboys & Poets fell thru. Ms. Fredericks goes on to say that Arlington County is looking for a “cutting edge, locally-based proprietor for the space.”
